Hope for a Better Future (H4BF) is dedicated to driving innovation from the ground up, improving health, ending hunger, overcoming hardship, and empowering youth, women, and girls. Through sustainable development programs, community engagement, and partnerships, we aim to uplift marginalized populations, foster economic empowerment, and create positive, lasting change in vulnerable communities.
Last week, Hope for a Better Future (H4BF) took an exciting step forward in sustainable agriculture with its dedicated onion production cooperative in Tubah sub-division. This cooperative, a core part of H4BF’s sustainability initiatives, is designed to empower local farmers, helping them increase productivity and profitability through advanced, sustainable farming techniques.
The week’s activities brought together our cooperative farmers for a hands-on meeting to refine onion production strategies, discuss harvest patterns, and implement targeted improvements. This gathering also marked our preparation to receive funding from the PADFA II program, which will enable us to expand our operations and strengthen our impact in the region.
After an in-depth discussion on the current practices, our farmers visited two local farms to conduct a live yield analysis. Using randomly measured 2-meter squares, they assessed onion yields per plot, gathering valuable data to identify which strategies could enhance future harvests. This data-driven approach allows our cooperative to track progress closely, helping farmers make informed adjustments to optimize yields.
With this strengthened focus and the upcoming support from PADFA II, we are confident that H4BF’s onion production cooperative will drive meaningful change in Tubah. By equipping farmers with the skills, resources, and insights they need, we’re creating a more resilient, profitable agricultural future for our community.
Stay tuned as we continue working with our farmers, advancing sustainable practices, and supporting agricultural growth across Cameroon.
