Our Target Group
Hope for a Better Future (H4BF) is dedicated to driving innovation from the ground up, improving health, ending hunger, overcoming hardship, and empowering youth, women, and girls. Through sustainable development programs, community engagement, and partnerships, we aim to uplift marginalized populations, foster economic empowerment, and create positive, lasting change in vulnerable communities.
The following groups are at the core of our mission:
Gender-Based Violence (GBV)
Over 40% of women and girls in crisis-affected regions report experiencing GBV, including domestic violence and sexual assault.
Education
60% of girls in rural areas do not complete primary education, with many dropping out due to early marriage or family pressures.
Economic Disempowerment
Women make up 80% of the informal sector in many regions, yet 90% of them lack access to formal financial services.
Why It's Urgent ?
Empowering women and girls is crucial to building resilient communities. Investing in them is a direct path to breaking the cycle of poverty and inequality.
Youth Unemployment
In conflict-affected and rural areas, 70% of youth remain unemployed or underemployed, with limited access to job training or internships.
Education Dropout Rate
55% of young people in remote regions leave school early due to financial constraints or lack of access to quality education.
Exposure to Violence
30% of youth in conflict zones are at risk of recruitment into armed groups or criminal activities.
Why It's Urgent ?
Youth are the future of any society. Providing them with the tools and opportunities to succeed is not only a moral imperative but an investment in sustainable development and peace.
Displacement and Land Rights
50% of Indigenous communities have been displaced due to conflict or development projects, leading to loss of ancestral lands and livelihoods.
Education
Only 30% of Indigenous children have access to formal education, with literacy rates often below 20% in remote areas.
Health Access
Indigenous communities face three times the mortality rate for preventable diseases compared to non-Indigenous populations.
Why It's Urgent ?
Indigenous communities are disproportionately affected by environmental, social, and economic challenges. Addressing these issues ensures that their rich cultures and traditions are preserved, and their communities are empowered to thrive.
Displacement
Over 6 million people in Cameroon are internally displaced, with the majority living in temporary shelters and facing inadequate access to food, water, and healthcare.
Health and Trauma
65% of displaced individuals report suffering from long-term trauma due to conflict and displacement.
GBV in Conflict
1 in 5 women in conflict zones experiences sexual violence, with many survivors lacking access to support and justice.
Why It's Urgent ?
The effects of crisis and displacement are long-lasting, impacting individuals and entire communities. Immediate relief, healthcare, and rebuilding efforts are necessary to restore dignity and resilience.
Energy Access
80% of rural communities lack access to reliable electricity, relying on harmful sources like kerosene, which contribute to health problems such as respiratory issues.
Poverty
Over 50% of rural populations live below the poverty line, lacking basic infrastructure such as roads, healthcare, and education.
Youth Migration
40% of youth from rural areas migrate to urban centers in search of jobs, often ending up in precarious living conditions.
Why It's Urgent ?
Rural areas are the backbone of many economies. By investing in clean energy and infrastructure, we can help these communities achieve sustainable livelihoods and reduce migration pressures.
Access to Services
65% of PWDs in rural and crisis-affected areas report not having access to basic services like healthcare, education, and employment.
Social Exclusion
PWDs face significant social stigma, with 50% reporting discrimination in public and social spaces.
Employment
Less than 10% of PWDs are employed, and many rely on informal, underpaid work.
Why It's Urgent ?
PWDs face multiple layers of exclusion that limit their opportunities and quality of life. By promoting inclusivity, we can empower PWDs to contribute to their communities and lead fulfilling lives.
