Position Overview:
H4BF is seeking a skilled and creative Fashion and Design Expert to lead the fashion design department at HOBEFI. The expert will be responsible for training students in fashion design, tailoring, and garment construction while developing high-quality clothing designs. The ideal candidate should have a passion for mentorship, hands-on learning, and market-driven fashion production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Training & Mentorship: Provide comprehensive, hands-on training to students at HOBEFI in fashion design, garment construction, pattern making, and sewing techniques.
- Design Development: Create innovative clothing designs in line with modern fashion trends and customer demands.
- Fabric Selection & Cutting: Guide students in identifying and selecting fabrics, ensuring precision in cutting techniques.
- Garment Construction: Oversee the sewing, assembling, and finishing of garments using both manual and machine-based techniques.
- Quality Control: Ensure all produced garments meet high standards in durability, design, and finishing.
- Entrepreneurship & Business Development: Teach students business aspects of fashion, including branding, pricing, and customer engagement.
- Customization & Alterations: Train students on how to make garment alterations based on customer preferences and market needs.
- Sustainable Fashion Practices: Integrate eco-friendly and sustainable fashion techniques into production.
- Fashion Exhibitions & Market Engagement: Support HOBEFI’s participation in fashion exhibitions, trade fairs, and community showcases, promoting students’ work.
- Industry Collaboration: Establish partnerships with fashion industry stakeholders to create internship and employment opportunities for students.
Qualifications & Skills:
- A Diploma or Degree in Fashion Design, Tailoring, Textile Design, or a related field.
- Proven experience in fashion design, garment construction, and pattern making.
- Strong proficiency in sewing techniques (manual and machine-based), fabric selection, and garment finishing.
- Passion for teaching and mentoring students in a vocational training environment.
- Knowledge of modern fashion trends and styling.
- Ability to design and develop customized clothing for diverse target markets.
- Creativity and an eye for detail to produce high-quality, unique clothing designs.
- Experience in business development in the fashion industry, including pricing strategies and customer engagement.
- Knowledge of embroidery, beading, and fabric decoration techniques is an added advantage.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students and staff.
