A proud milestone for Cameroon, celebrating community-led development and the power of local solutions across Africa.
NAIROBI, KENYA| 8 OCTOBER 2026
Hope for a Better Future (H4BF), a Cameroon-based civil society organisation committed to empowering women and young people and advancing community-led development, is proud to announce its recognition among the Top 3 organisations in the Doers category at the Africa CSO Awards 2026, organised by EPIC-Africa.
The recognition is a significant milestone for H4BF, placing its work among the leading community-driven initiatives highlighted through a continental awards process that received 1,248 submissions from 46 African countries.
The awards celebrate African civil society organisations and changemakers whose work puts communities at the centre of development, recognising the importance of locally driven solutions, collective action and sustainable impact.
Turning community needs into lasting solutions
Since its establishment, H4BF has worked to create opportunities for underserved communities, with a particular focus on women, girls and young people. Through its programmes in vocational training, renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, entrepreneurship, health and community development, the organisation supports people to build skills, strengthen livelihoods and take an active role in shaping their futures.
Through its vocational training institute, HOBEFI, and its community-based initiatives, H4BF continues to promote practical skills, green entrepreneurship and locally led solutions that respond to real community needs.
A defining feature of this work is the transformation of beneficiaries into entrepreneurs, trainers, partners and community leaders. This reflects H4BF’s belief that communities should not simply receive development support; they should have the knowledge, resources and opportunities to lead change themselves.
A recognition built on collective effort
H4BF’s progress has been made possible through the commitment of its team, volunteers, community leaders, beneficiaries and partners, alongside the support of organisations that share its vision.
H4BF extends its sincere appreciation to its funders and supporters, Youth4Climate, UNDP Italy, UNDP Rome Centre and JAC Trust UK, for supporting initiatives that translate ideas into practical opportunities for communities.
The organisation also acknowledges its co-creation and technical partners, MasterPeace, UMHA, Noorderpoort and Apro Formazione, as well as SOPISDEW Cameroon and FAP NGO, for their collaboration and contributions to advancing sustainable development and youth empowerment.
Above all, H4BF celebrates the women, young people and communities whose determination, creativity and leadership give meaning to its mission.
Learning and connecting in Nairobi
The Africa CSO Awards 2026 brought civil society actors together in Nairobi, Kenya, during the African CSO Ideas Festival from 6–8 October 2026.
Beyond the recognition itself, the gathering offered an opportunity to exchange experiences, strengthen professional relationships and reflect on leadership, trust, evidence and the future of African civil society.
For H4BF, participation in this continental platform reinforced the importance of collaboration, knowledge-sharing and sustained investment in community-led development.
Looking ahead: From recognition to greater impact
Being recognised among the Top 3 organisations in the Doers category is both an honour and a motivation for H4BF to continue strengthening its work in Cameroon.
The organisation remains committed to expanding opportunities for women and young people, promoting green skills and entrepreneurship, supporting resilient livelihoods, and developing practical solutions to the challenges facing communities.
H4BF views this milestone not as a destination, but as encouragement to deepen its impact, strengthen partnerships and continue learning alongside the communities it serves.
The recognition is an honour. The impact is the mission. The work continues.
